Using the Skynet robotic telescope network, professor of astrophysics Andy Puckett and planetary geology major Austin Caughey of Columbus State University’s Department of Earth and Space Sciences, have helped identify the initial orbits of five new asteroids (2016 CH137, 2016 CD137, 2016 CL137, 2016 CM194, and 2016 CO264). Their work was recently recognized in the “Minor Planet Electronic Circulars,” published by the International Astronomical Union.
