Every Asteroid Day, event organisers prepare quizzes and trivia about asteroids to interact with their audience. They are powerful tools to actively engage learners, provide feedback, practice retrieval, and reinforce knowledge while also being motivating.

With the availability of online quiz makers and the popularisation of social networks, they can be easily prepared and accessed from anywhere, promoting global interaction with different people. They are also a great way to increase your social media engagement and following.

Typeform, Edapp, Quizlet, SurveyMonkey, Quiz Maker, and TriviaMaker are good free options for quiz and trivia creators and can also be customised according to your needs.

Check out some events made on Asteroid Day using quizzes to inspire you:

Planetarium Negara from Malaysia reminded its audience about the upcoming Asteroid Day with a weekly asteroid quiz on its Instagram, where the public interacted in the comments section and the best comments won prizes.

The SPACE India team also used quizzes to interact with students through their Facebook page setting a time limit to responses in the comments section.

On Asteroid Day 2020, the Travelling Telescope from Kenya hosted a fun quiz webinar via Facebook, where students could interact with specially invited astronomers and scientists from other parts of the world in real time.

The Núcleo Milenio de Formación Planetaria in Chile and the Museo de Ciencias Naturales de La Salle in Colombia chose to use YouTube as a platform for their quizzes. While one presented the questions with an explanation, the other started the broadcast with a lecture on asteroids followed by a quiz about the presented content. Both interacted with their audience through the platform’s chat space.

Some events were held in pubs, where asteroids were introduced informally and quizzes could get more involvement, offering prizes to winners. In 2019, scientists and the public from the University of Groningen, Netherlands, gathered in a pub for an asteroid quiz. To celebrate Asteroid Day in 2022, the Bahrain Stargazers also included a quiz in their pub-held event in the capital.
