Dr. Albert Falke is a Project Manager and Systems Engineer in the Science and Earth Observation Future Programmes & Proposals department of Airbus Germany. Within NEO-MAPP he will act as a local project lead for all Airbus work items and technical supervisory interface supporting the project coordinator, thus liaising with other members of the project consortium. Albert has over 15 years of experience, working within the space industry, whilst being responsible for several activities and projects for the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Union (EU). He is in charge of enabling technology development, implementation of projects, and long-term programmatic activities for missions to small solar system bodies.

For many years, he contributed to asteroid science & deflection activities and led the Airbus Germany contributions to NEOShield, an EU/FP7 funded project preparing to protect the planet by detailed planning and design of effective deflection demonstration missions. Moreover, Albert was the responsible project coordinator of the EU/H2020 funded research and technology development project NEOShield-2, which accessed technologies and physical characterization for hazardous Near-Earth Objects, preparing their deflection and expanding our knowledge of the science behind them.

Listen to Albert speak on what asteroids are made of and how they can be diverted here.
