NASA is inviting 25 social media users to apply for a chance to attend a one-day media event to learn about the first-ever NASA mission to travel to an asteroid, retrieve a sample, and return the sample to Earth. Participants in the April 29 event will view the completed OSIRIS-REx spacecraft at the Lockheed Martin Space Systems facilities in Littleton, Colorado.

If your passion is to communicate and engage the world via social media, then this is the event for you. Take the opportunity to be on the front line to blog, tweet, Instagram, etc. everything about our OSIRIS-Rex asteroid sample return mission, scheduled to launch to asteroid Bennu in September 2016.

Attendees of the daylong event will view the spacecraft, tour Lockheed Martin’s massive ‘asteroid wall’ in its Space Operations and Simulation Center, see the mission operations center where the spacecraft will be flown, learn about the engineering challenges of OSIRIS-REx, and ponder the science discoveries that NASA hopes will be achieved with this mission.

Registration opens on this page Thursday, March 24 and closes at 5:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 7, 2016.
