To celebrate last year’s Asteroid Day, astronomy club Astronomos Amadores da Bahia organised an event at a local museum in Salvador, Brazil! The event was free to the public and had over 100 attendees.
Special guest Dr. Wilson Carvalho gave a presentation on meteorites and even brought some from his own collection to share with the audience. Later, guests had the opportunity to take part in a discussion about the Tunguska event with astronomer Alessandro Oliveira and were introduced to the work of Exoss and its Meteor Monitoring Network.
The event ended with an evening of observing the sky. Through the museum’s telescopes, guests could see passing satellites, the rings of Saturn and even the Southern Pleiades!
We want to thank Alessandro Oliveira and the Astronomos Amadores de Bahia for putting together this amazing event.
