Resources at Your Fingertips

We are down to the single digit countdown until Asteroid Day and we want to help you in the event planning process by pointing you towards some of the resources you can use for your event. If you have any questions about anything please reach out to events@asteroidday.org. Our team has curated a set of resources that vary from live streams to kid-friendly quizzes.

If you want to help tell the world about your event we are very excited the The Guardian is conducting live coverage on Asteroid Day. They will be picking up photos and videos from events that are using the hashtag #AsteroidDay on social media. So encourage your team and the public and whomever is attending your events to post online. The Guardian will be live streaming on their blog, in real time. It would be fantastic if your event could share photos and video content with us using the hashtag #AsteroidDay

Videos and Film

• 7-episode video series – Will be made available Monday June 27th, 2016

The series celebrates the work of asteroid experts, scientists, astronauts, and policymakers, with interviews with Mark Boslough, Stephen Hawking, Ed Lu, Bill Nye, Patrick Michel, Lynne Jones, Lord Martin Rees, Rusty Schweickart, and Carolyn Shoemaker. It also highlights upcoming missions to search for and study near-Earth asteroids: Asteroid Impact & Deflection Assessment (AIDA) mission, a joint project of ESA and NASA; OSIRIS-REx, NEOCam and Hayabusa2. The video series will be available starting June 27th, 2016 on the website. Additionally, the series will be subtitled in 17 different languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Danish, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Hindi, Hungarian, Japanese, Polish, Portugese, Romanian, Russian, and Spanish.

• 51 Degrees North – Fill out this form to download the film for free.

The film 51 Degrees was the inspiration for Asteroid Day. Grig Richters who made this film is also a co-founder of Asteroid. He along with Asteroid Day partner Discovery Science are providing the film to our event organizers. There are two versions of 51 Degrees North. Grig Richters has made available the full length original film (88 minutes) subtitled in Spanish and English. In partnership with Discovery Science, Asteroid Day is able to provide our events a 45-minute version of the film in English, Slovak, Turkish, Russian, Polish, and Hungarian audio. To request the film, email events@asteroidday.org indicating whether you would like the 45-min or 90-min version and if you would like subtitles.

• ESA Planetarium Show

A full-dome planetarium experience. The video is made only for full-dome showings. If you have a planetarium email events@asteroidday.org for the full-dome production. • Live Streams

There will be several live streams that you can make part of your event across several time zones. These live streams will be streamed from the home page asteroidday.org. These live streams will include streaming by: Universe Awareness, ESA, NASA, California Academy of Sciences (Facebook Live), and Virtual Telescope (YouTube)
