KazNU is a university in Kazakhstan, Almaty that held their first Asteroid Day event with an audience full of university students and adults. Students from the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute (FAPHI) and Kazakh National University were joined together as the astronomy club where they created models of asteroids for display.
The participation of FAPHI’s researchers who focus on studying minor planets and their properties and the 18 kg part of Sikhote-Alin meteorite had the most attention by the participants.
Overall, the event was a success in attracting people to search for more knowledge. They plan to create more events like this thanks to the massive feedback from the school.
