Rachel Knight is new to astronomy, starting her star-gazing journey a little over a year ago. As COVID-19 restrictions spread, she looked for socially isolated hobby. Rachel and her husband purchased a Unistellar eVscope and found a beginner-friendly online telescope community which leverages a large network of individuals with connected telescopes.
Every month, various citizen science missions are sent to this network to track and capture data on asteroids from backyards across the world. Rachel has participated in numerous planetary defense missions, tracking near-Earth asteroids and creating data on the size and shape of each target, contributing to actual science.
Rachel currently works in forecasting and analytics within the pharmaceutical industry. She received her bachelors in biological science from the University of Chicago and a masters degree in bioscience from Keck Graduate Institute.
