Dr. Slava G. Turyshev is a senior research scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where he leads programs in gravitational physics and relativistic astrophysics. His work includes lunar and interplanetary laser ranging, optical astrometry, and experimental tests of general relativity and cosmology. His research spans gravitational waves, fundamental physics, relativistic timekeeping, lunar geophysics, and exoplanet imaging using the solar gravitational lens. He has expertise in high-precision spacecraft navigation, solar system dynamics, microarcsecond astrometry, and optical technologies such as laser metrology and interferometry.
He has led interdisciplinary research efforts funded by NASA and contributes to mission concept development in astrophysics, fundamental physics and deep-space exploration. Dr. Turyshev serves on NASA’s Fundamental Physics Advisory Committee and is a member of the International Academy of Astronautics. He has authored over 230 peer-reviewed publications and received multiple NASA and JPL awards.
