Mike von der Nahmer is an internationally recognized composer, transdisciplinary artist, sound researcher, and music psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of art, science, and therapeutic practice. His creative journey is driven by a utopian vision: to develop an acoustic space that transforms our understanding of the human mind through sonification, enabling new ways to perceive mental states and, potentially diagnose mental disorders.

At the core of his work is the exploration of sonification as a bridge between artistic expression and scientific inquiry. Whether translating neural data into soundscapes, creating immersive musical environments, or designing therapeutic interventions, his projects reveal the profound connections between human cognition, emotional expression, and auditory perception.

As a transdisciplinary artist, Mike’s work transcends conventional boundaries, blending composition, sound design, dance, multimedia installations, and therapeutic music practices. His creative projects—ranging from VIMUD (Vibroacoustic Music Therapy) to the
animated film for Asteroid Day 2025—integrate diverse artistic practices with scientific rigor, fostering innovative solutions to contemporary challenges.

His research spans fields such as cognitive science, acoustic ecology, and experimental media, while his artistic endeavors include musical theater, sonification of complex data, and multisensory performance art. Committed to the idea that art and science are equal partners in creative discovery, he actively pursues collaborations that unite scientists, artists, and communities in shared creative processes.

As an educator, Mike is dedicated to inspiring students to explore the spaces between disciplines, equipping them with the skills to integrate artistic intuition with empirical research. His teaching philosophy centers on cultivating creative ecosystems where students can discover their own artistic voices while engaging deeply with the scientific aspects of their practice.

Through his work, Mike von der Nahmer continues to push the boundaries of how sound, movement, and storytelling can convey complex ideas, envisioning a future where art and science merge to deepen our understanding of the mind and the world around us.
