Daniel R. Müller is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern, Switzerland. His current work focuses on the study of comets, including the analysis of space data and the calibration of a new space instrument. Daniel is analyzing data from ESA’s famous Rosetta mission to study gas composition changes in the coma of Comet 67P during dust outbursts, thereby improving our understanding of cometary activity. Meanwhile, he is also calibrating the new mass spectrometer instrument MANiaC (Mass Analyser for Neutrals in a Coma) for ESA’s Comet Interceptor mission, which is scheduled to launch in 2029 to intercept a dynamically new comet. An engineer by training, he previously developed deployable lightweight satellite structures at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and tested them during a parabolic flight.
