We will organize two online talks for June 30: 1) “Santa Filomena: The asteroid, the meteorite and the pop-star: a wonderful story” (Santa Filomena: de asteroide, a meteorito, a popstar – os bastidores de uma saga) and, ” 2) 1I/’Oumuamua: Our first interstellar visitor” (1I/’Oumuamua: nosso primeiro visitante interestelar).
The first one is a realistic chronicle of the episodes of the Santa Filomena event, a meteorite that fell in August 19/2020 in the little village of Santa Filomena, at the northeastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco (970 mi from Brasilia DF). We will have three invited speakers: Antônio da Silva Miranda, Ph. D., Professor of Physics, at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco; Luiz Fernando de Castro Souza, Physics student at the Federal Institute of Education of Sertão de Pernambuco, amateur astronomer that from Santa Filomena; and Taylán Sales, a fellowship of our Scientific Initialization Program, student of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, dweller of the Santa Filomena region. The main objective of this activity is talk with people of this region that have a scientific knowledge about this subject and can speak about the Santa Filomena meteorite, and all the circumstances of the discover and the arrival of scientists, collectors of meteorites, and common people of the region.
The second one is with an invited specialist, Felipe Fernandes, Ph. D., astronomer and Post-Doctoral fellowship of the Instituto de Geofísica e Astronomia of São Paulo University. He will show to our public all the theories and proved facts about the 1I/’Oumuamua object, and will share with all his point of view about the fake news and SciFi approaches of this interesting object.
