The GAL Hassin Foundation participates in this world event by offering two days with various activities: how to discover asteroids and how to study them both from the ground and with space probes sample return. In the evening, observations of the sky to the naked eye and search for some asteroids with the Galhassin Robotic Telescope 1.
5.30 p.m. – 6.00 p.m. – Pieces of Heaven. A brief History of rocks from Space and Sample Return Missions.
Exploring asteroids, from the first telescope observations to the present day’s sample return missions, with an eye to the future.
6.00 p.m. – 6.30 p.m. – Meteorites: the key to understand Life on Earth. A sample of carbonaceous chondrite to understand the role that asteroids and other small bodies play in the origins of life on Earth.
Tunguska Event. A case still open 114 years later. Guided tour in the GAL Hassin Museum.
6.30 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. – Asteroid Apophis: Case closed. Not a risk to Earth for at least 100 years.
GAL Hassin’s contribution to the observations of the most famous asteroid during “99942 Apophis 2021 Observing Campaign” by International Asteroid Warning Network (IAWN).
7.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m. – Fasten your seat belts and… lift off!
